Michigan Honey Festival

Posted on

Here’s the short version until I can do a proper write up.

The Michigan Honey Festival in Imlay City is a 4 year running event that brings out local beekeepers, honey fans and Mead enthusiasts to try honeys, see the newest technology in bee-keeping, meet new friends and (my personal favorite) drink Mead!

We submitted three Meads to the Michigan Honey Festival’s Mead Cup. Superior Lakes White Mead earned a Silver while our Barrel Aged won a Bronze in the Commercial; Made in Michigan; Traditional Style Category! Pear Pyment pulls a Silver in the Commercial; Fruit Mead Category!

What a turn out for a first time event! Something like four thousand people, over what, a five hour window! How cool is that?

Thanks to everyone who waited in our monstrous line (pics to come soon). Thank you everyone who waited patiently or returned to our stand while we waited for the second delivery to arrive. We had a blast and hope you did, too!

Chris from Andiamo’s and Stewart from Palace Sports made sure this was a seamless event. Great Job guys, thanks! Can’t wait for next years, but what do you say we pour till dusk?

World Expo of Beer, Frankenmuth MI

Posted on

Wow, The World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth Michigan at Heritage Park, held by the Jaycees is one of the must attend events for any Mead, Cider and Craft Beer fan. Over 75 of the finest Meaderies, Cider Houses and Breweries participated this year with vendors ranging from little guys like us at Superior Lakes to powerhouses like Pabst (seriously) offering products from Superior Lakes Pear Riesling Pyment and Keweenaw’s Widowmaker Black Ale all the way to Guiness Stout and PBR with everything in between!

We had such a good time with our friends from Tri City Brewing, Brewery Vivant, B. Nektar, or meeting new ones. The guys from Keweenaw Brewing Co, Unibroue to name a few.

More importantly, we were able to meet many of you! Some for the first time and some with very familiar faces. Thank you all for taking the time to visit our booth. Whether it was your first try of Superior Lakes Hand-Crafted Meads or you’ve enjoyed our Meads before; we appreciate the love and hope you had as much fun drinking our Mead as we had making it.

Come see us next year!

Michigan Renaissance Festival 2012 was a HUGE success! Thanks to everyone who came out to support Superior Lakes and had a taste of our products. The weather was perfect and all of Michigan’s renaissance patrons were a spectacle in and of themselves. Also we can’t say enough about all the volunteers who worked to support such a great cause. We are looking forward to next years festival already.
